A love letter from India reaches 15,000 Pak kids

“Dear Children of Pakistan, Let’s join hearts in friendship. Together we can make a better world — The Children of India.” These are the wordings of a love letter written by Indian children, which was handed over to 15,000 Pakistani children at the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.

The 86,400-square-foot letter has been sent by thousands of Indian children with their signatures. The World’s largest love letter is made of tarpaulin and it measures 73 by 110 metres. Around the body of the letter are 196 smaller pieces which make-up the border, and which bear the names and addresses of Indian schools and signatures of thousands of children.

Avani Shah, a volunteer student from Bombay, gave details of the letter. “The letter is written in Urdu, Hindi and English,” said Avani. The letter was first exhibited at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore in January 2006, followed by another exhibition at Wankhede Stadium, Bombay.
