Restore democracy, India tells Nepal King

India, it appears has once again expressed its strong resentment against the monarchy in Nepal after New Delhis special envoy put the ball in King Gyanendras court to restore democracy and quell two weeks of bloody mass protests in the Himalayan Kingdom.

Dr Karan Singh, Prime ministers special envoy to Nepal said on his return from Kathmandu after meeting the king that I am optimistic. I am hopeful that the king will make an announcement shortly with regard to restoration of democratic process in the landlocked country. The ball is in the kings court.

The Indian envoy said his meeting with the king earlier on Thursday was positive and the monarchs attitude was good. Mr Singh carried a message from Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has called on Nepals royal government to defuse the violence.
