India to boost ties with Cote dIvoire, West Africa

A 110-member delegation from Cote dIvoire – one of the most prosperous mineral-rich African countries – comes to India Tuesday to accelerate energy and economic ties, underscoring the growing importance of the West African region for Indian diplomacy.

The delegation will be headed by Cote dIvoire (Ivory Coast) Foreign Minister Youssouf Bakayoko and comprises four other ministers and top industry leaders of the country that is one of the worlds largest producers of cocoa, coffee beans and palm oil.

The Ivoirian foreign minister will meet Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma Friday and discuss a whole host of bilateral and global issues, including energy security and trade, official sources told IANS.
